El Chico is a space of transverse artistic projects, which proposes the intersection of artists and disciplines, a space of crossing between different generations and artistic typologies. An exercise of local claim, but also an exploration in relation to the international. In unison with the space, we have developed other artistic research tools such as El Chico's podcast, available on digital platforms, which we understand as a space for debate and search that connects with the exhibitions held at El Chico.

One of the founding initiatives of El Chico, is the hold periodic exhibitions of newly graduated artists to serve as a nexus between the academic life and the artistic working life. For our fourth edition of “Adentro/Afuera,” we will bring together graduates of the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid -as in our previous editions- and we include graduates from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the Universidad del País Vasco. On this occasion, the exhibition will be held from June 5th to 15th with a selection of works from the latest graduates. For this reason, and to extend the exhibition opportunity to all students, w have opened a call to send in portfolios and/or dossiers of work for students who are interested in participating in the exhibition.

The documents can be sent to info@elchico.gallery from March 4th to April 8th, and the selection of artists will be announced on April 19th. The selection will be made by the team at El Chico based on potential, coherence, and cohesion both spatially and conceptually.

UNIVERSITY OF THE BASQUE COUNTRY
· 4th Year Fine Arts of 2022-2023 and 2023-2024
· All Masters of 2022-2023 and 2023-2024

Students participating in the submission will need to specify their relationship with the listed university, as well as provide their complete details. All documents must be sent (only) to: info@elchico.gallery, and in the subject they must indicate Open Call Adentro/Afuera 2024. Requests sent through social media will not be accepted.

The model of the document to send is open to the public, from artistic portfolio to dossier with technical specifications of the works. The document should contain between five (5) and ten (10) works, that have already been executed or an explanatory proposal. The adequate weight of the sent document should be around 8mb.

The delivery and return of the selected works will be in charge of the selected students, however, there is flexibility depending on the project and/or the selected works.

Any questions to be resolved can be sent to the same email address.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS
· The shipping and collection of the selected works is the responsibility of the artists. For artists who are unable to collect the works at the end of the exhibition, El Chico will return the works by post with postage due, ensuring appropriate packaging for the safety of the works.· El Chico is responsible for the insurance of the artworks only during the exhibition period; the artists will be responsible for their transport insurance.
· The works will be on sale during the exhibition period; 100% of the proceeds from sales go to the artists. Prices will be defined with the help of El Chico team.
· El Chico will draw up a specific collaboration/consignment agreement for each artist.
· The general documentation of the exhibition will be provided by El Chico. This graphic documentation will be shared with the artists.
· Some of the artists participating in previous editions have been selected for solo exhibitions. However, it is not the responsibility of El Chico to necessarily select an artist for each edition of Adentro/Afuera.

IMPORTANT DATES
· 4 March - 8 April: Open call and reception of proposals.
· 19 April: Selection announcement. Only those selected will be notified personally. The information will be published in parallel with the communication channels of the Faculty.
· 30 May - 1 June: Reception of the artworks selected.
· 3 - 4 June: Assembly.
· 5 - 15 June: Exhibition.
· 16 June: Disassembly and return collection of works.
