Álvaro Chior

A Coruña, 1992

Álvaro Chior's work, which combines disciplines such as video, sculpture, sound, music and writing, focuses on language and image, the gestures implicit in their articulations, their material qualities, their relationship with bodily and physical processes and the search for the de-signification of their units through processes such as repetition and movement.

Chior lives and works in Madrid. This year he has been selected for the Generaciones de La Casa Encendida prize; his work has been shown in national institutions such as the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, La Casa Encendida, Sala de Arte Joven, Sala Amadís Injuve and Matadero (Madrid); CC Can Felipa and Fabra i Coats (Barcelona); DA2 Domus Artium 2002 (Salamanca); Las Cigarreras (Alicante); TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes (Santa Cruz de Tenerife); and Etiopía Centro de Arte y Tecnología (Zaragoza), as well as in countries such as the United States, Mexico, Colombia, Italy and Scotland.
